recommends the Public Works Committee recommend to City Council that Change Order No. 1
with LaTour Constructim~ be approved in the amount of $14,184 and extending the contract
completion dais by 20 days.

Modon by Councihnember Pearson, seconded by Councihnember Olson, to recommend to City
Council that Chanoe Order No. 1 with LaTour Construction be approved in the amount of
$14,184 and extending the contract completion date by 20 days.

Action: Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee.

Case ~3

Consider Change Order for Improvement Project 05-22 Ramsey Town
Center Phase 2 Segment 1

Buckground:

This project includes the construction of Civic Center Drive betxveen Zeolite and Sapphire .
Streets. One element of this street inch]des a "bump out" in the street section to accommodate
tbs bus loading zone in front of the mmticipal parkhig structure. Concrete pavement is required
through the area that busses will be braking and accelerating to prevent rutting and shoving that
would be anticipated if bituminous pavement were utilized. The plans called for a 10 foot wide
concrete bus parking section on the south side of the street, but made an accommodation for only
a five foot segment on the north side. If constructed in this manner only the right side on tbs bus
wheels would be braking on concrete pavement. In order to rectify this deficiency two options
have been considered.

Option One would be to mill out the base course of bituminous pavement adjacent to the
concrete and place seven foot concrete section adjacent to the existing concrete curb. This
would provide a wide etlough width to provide an adequate section for stopping buses.
However, this section would result in having a concrete section protruding into an
otherwise bituminous pavement on the north side of the street for a distance of
approximately 180 feet. On the south side of the street the concrete for the bus stop is
located entirely south of the extension of the cm'b line leading into the bus stop "bump
out". Although functional, there are aesthetic concerns with this alternative. The
estimated cost for this option is $11,635.00. It is suggested that the concrete section be
tapered for a more streamlined appearance.
Option Two would be to place a full width concrete section through a 250 foot section of
Civic Center Drive, by removing 37 feet of the bituminous base course and replacing it
cntimly with a concrete section. The estimated cost for this option is $106,128.00.

Motion to recommend to City Council that a change order be authorized for Option One in the
amount ors 11,635.00.

Action: Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee.

Case

Consider CI auge O 'der for improvement Project 05-23 Ebon}, Street Sewer
attd Water and Street Improvements

-269-
