Defined contribution <br /> <br />funds be paid to the Treasurer of the City to be held in trust by him/her and paid out only in <br />accordance with these By-Laws. <br /> <br />SECTION 1. MEMBERSHIP <br /> <br />Any member of the Ramsey Fire Department who is a member in good and regular <br />standing and actively serving as a fire fighter is eligible to apply for membership in this <br />Association. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. OTHER REQUIREMENTS <br /> <br />MINORS. No person under the age of 18 shall be permitted to be a member of this <br />Association. <br /> <br />SUBSTITUTES, PROBATIONERS. No one serving as a substitute or on <br />probation, nor any fire fighter who is not a member ot the Association, shall be <br />deemed to be a member or entitled to the benefits provided by the Association; but if <br />a probationary fire fighter later becomes a regular fire fighter and a member of the <br />Association, the service as a probationary fire fighter shall be credited as a period of <br />active service for purposes of calculating a service pension or other retirement <br />benefits. <br /> <br />OTHER EXCLUSIONS. Membership in the Association shall cease if the member <br />is not vested and resigns, or is expelled from the Ramsey Fire Department. the term <br />vested as used in this section means a member who has completed at least 10 years <br />service with the Department and 10 years membership in the Association and has <br />attained the age 50. <br /> <br />The Association shall exclude any applicant for membership who constitutes an <br />unwarranted health risk pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, Section 424A.O1. Prior to <br />the time of application, the applicant shall, at the expense of the Association, <br />undergo a thorough physical examination by a licensed doctor of medicine and file a <br />written report thereof with the Secretary of the Association.
