CLASSIC. <br />Public Services — Engineering <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: LRRWMO Board & Member Cities <br />FROM: City of Anoka <br />DATE: September 14, 2023 <br />RE: City of Anoka Support of the Anoka Rum River Dam Reconstruction and <br />Modification Project <br />On Septmber 8, 2022, the LRRWMO board made a motion supporting the proposed legislation being <br />pursued by the City of Anoka and area state legislators in order to improve the safety and fuctionlity of <br />the City of Anoka Dam on the Rum River. And on May 23, 2023, the State Bonding Bill was presented <br />to the Governor Dayton and on May 24, 2023 he signed the State Bonding Bill into law. As part of the <br />bill, there was $500,000 granted to the City of Anoka for feasibility studies for the design, engineering, <br />and environmental analysis for the repair and reconstruction of the Rum River Dam. See attached City of <br />Anoka — Rum River Dam Legislative Brochure. <br />On July 10, 2023, Anoka's State of Minnesota 2024 Capital Budget request was officially part of the <br />Capital Budget System. And on September 13, 2023, the Capital Investment Committee Legislative Bus <br />Tour stopped at the Anoka Dam. <br />On September 18, 2023, Anoka City Council adopted a resolution supporting the 2024 Capital Budget <br />General Obligation Bonding request for the Anoka Rum River Dam Reconstruction and Modification <br />Project. <br />The City of Anoka is requesting Letters of Support from the Lower Rum River Watershed Management <br />Orgination, the City of Andover, and the City of Ramsey for the Anoka Rum River Dam Reconstruction <br />and Modification Project. Attached is a letter of support template for your reference and/or your use if <br />the project is supported by your organization.
