Chairman Anderson called the public hearing to order at 8:34 p.m. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik stated that the City Council has selected a site for a second fire <br />station. The property is zoned R-1 Rural Residential and public buildings or uses are not <br />permitted use in this zone. <br /> <br />Citizen Input <br /> <br />Barry Childs, 6040 154th Lane Ramsey, questioned what the overall use of"Public Uses" are. <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik explained they would be uses owned or operated by a municipal <br />county or State governmental unit. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johnson stated that there could be many uses including a dog pound and for that <br />reason he would be opposed to the amendment. <br /> <br />Commissioners Nixt and Jensen and Chairperson Leo Anderson also expressed their opposition <br />to the proposed amendment. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dempsey questioned if Council could rezone the fire station property. <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik stated that a conditional use permit would be more appropriate. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Sherman stated that they could closely define what the "uses" <br />could be. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dempsey questioned the location of the site for a second fire station. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Sherman reviewed the location and explained that City <br />Council directed a study be done to determine a site that would best fill the need of the area. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dempsey questioned if impact on adjacent property was a criteria. Community <br />Development Director Sherman replied that the study was more service driven. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Wivoda, seconded by Commissioner Nixt, to close the public hearing. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Anderson, Commissioners Wivoda, Nixt, Dempsey, <br />Jensen, Johnson, and Kociscak.
