Commission Business <br /> <br />Chairperson Anderson called the regular meeting of the Planning Commission back to order at <br />8:43 p.m. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johnson questioned what the Comprehensive Plan shows for the area. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Sherman replied that it is zoned rural residential. She <br />suggested that Staff explore other options and bring back the issue of public to the Commission. <br /> <br />Commissioner Nixt stated that area residents should receive notice of the development of a fire <br />station. <br /> <br />Commumty Development Director Sherman explained that the fire department has been involved <br />with the neighborhood. <br /> <br />Commissioner Nixt explained that he is more concerned with undesirable "public uses" that <br />people should be notified of. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johnson stated that he was not as concerned of having the property rezoned and <br />felt that a conditional use permit, would allow the City to use the property for the fire station. <br /> <br />Commissioner Dempsey suggested qualifying "public" safety uses, which would only allow for <br />fire and police stations. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Johnson, seconded by Commissioner Jensen, directing Staff to <br />research "public safety conditions" for a conditional use permit. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Anderson, Commissioners Johnson, Jensen, <br />Dempsey, Kociscak, Nixt, and Wivoda.
