Chairman Anderson called the public hearing to order at 8:33 p.m. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik stated that on April 27, 1999, the City received an application from <br />Robert and Rita Knoll for a private kennel conditional use permit to maintain a maximum of four <br />adult dogs on the property at 6020 151 st Lane Northwest. <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik explained that the subject property is approximately .4 acres in size <br />and is zoned R-1 Residential. Bob and Rita Knoll currently have two Labrador Retrievers and <br />they are involved in dog sports such as obedience and agility competition, conformation, flyball <br />and tracking. They would like to expand upon their hobby and acquire two more mid-size <br />sporting dogs. The applicants have provided a letter of application and site plan which indicates <br />that the dogs will be kenneled indoors and there is a fenced exercise yard. They have stated that <br />they do not intend to conduct any commercial activities such as breeding, selling, training or <br />boarding, if the private kennel permit is granted. <br /> <br />Citizen Input <br /> <br />Robert Knoll stated one small clarification that they currently have one Labrador Retriever and <br />one Curly Coat Retriever. He explained that they are intending to purchase another Curly Coat <br />Retriever since their current dog is now retired from competing. <br /> <br />Barry Childs, 6040 151st Lane Northwest, stated that he is the next door neighbor of Robert and <br />Rita Knoll and that he is in support of the Commission granting them a private kennel <br />conditional use permit, noting that they have had no problems with Mr. Knoll's existing dogs. <br /> <br />Natalie Juskiewicz, 5954 151st Lane Northwest, stated that from what she has seen, the Knolls' <br />take great care of their dogs and is in support of granting the permit. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Wivoda, to close the public hearing. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Anderson, Commissioners Nixt, Wivoda, Dempsey, <br />Jensen, Johnson, and Kociscak.
