Parks/Utilities Supervisor Boos explained that the fountain would require a certain amount of <br />maintenance on a daily basis to minimize some of the sanitary vandalism issues. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cook stated that the fountains are relatively vandal proof, but it does not stop <br />sanitary vandalism to the fountain. That being said, he did think that the fountains would be <br />something that would be good for the area. <br /> <br />Cotlncihnember Kurak inquired if the City currently had any fountains in the area to which Mr. <br />Boos replied no. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak felt that it would be an appropriate place to try a fountain. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Kurak, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to adopt Resolution #03- <br />03-070 awarding the contract to Anderson krigation Company, Inc. for the completion of the <br />irrigation system no later than May 13, 2003 for a total amount not to exceed $14,347 for items 1 <br />and 2 on the bid and recommend installation of a drinking fountain at a not to exceed cost of <br />$2,653, which is the difference of approved amount of 2003 C.I.P. less the approved bid amount. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, and Councilmembers Kurak, Cook, Elvig, Pearson, <br />Strommen, and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #12: Report from the Public Works Committee <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />Consider Street Widths in New Subdivision <br />The Public Works Committee recommended that staff use the proposed street width <br />standards as guidelines only when any Planned Unit Development is proposed. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />Consider Policy Regarding Sewer and Water Hook-Up <br />Staff noted that since the Public Works Committee meeting, staff more fully researched <br />this policy and found that it was already City Code policy to require both sewer and water <br />be connected when only one is requested. <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />Consider Changes to City's Street Assessment Policy <br />The Public Works Committee recommended that the City Council stay with cra'rent <br />City's Street Assessment Policy and take another look at it in the future. <br /> <br />4) <br /> <br />Discussion on Campaign Sign Placement Issues <br />The Public Works Committee recommended that staff be allowed to remove campaign <br />signs that violate State Statute 160.27 and City Code Chapter 9. After removed, the signs <br />will be placed for easy pickup by the party involved after notification.
