Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #99-12-XXX RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF DEAN KAPLER FROM GENERAL PUBLIC EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT ASSOCIATION (PERA) TO POLICE/FIRE PERA WHEREAS, Dean Kapler is the Fire Chief and the Director of Public Works for the City of Ramsey; and WHEREAS, Mr. Kapler has requested to be changed from the general PERA to the Police/Fire PER_A; and WHEREAS, staffhas contacted PERA and Mr. Kapler is eligible to switch from general to Police/Fire PERA with the passing of a Council resolution acknowledging the change. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: l) That Fire Chief/Director of Public Works Dean Kapler has requested to be changed from the general PERA to Police/Fire PEP_A; and 2) That Mr. Kapler is eligible to make this change with the passing of a Council resolution. 3) That under the 2000 salary, this change will actually cost the City less money. (Example: If left as is - 5.18% of Mr. Kapler's salary would be paid to PERA, along with 6.2% to Social Security, totaling 11.38% or $7,089.28. If changed- 9.3% of Mr. Kapler's salary would be paid to PERA and nothing to Social Security, totaling 9.3% or $5,793.53 [$1,295.75 less]). Mr. Kapler's contribution to PERA will increase from 4.75% to 6.2%. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the 14t~' day of December 1999.
