Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #99-12-XXX <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF DEAN KAPLER FROM <br />GENERAL PUBLIC EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT ASSOCIATION (PERA) TO <br />POLICE/FIRE PERA <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dean Kapler is the Fire Chief and the Director of Public Works for the <br />City of Ramsey; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Kapler has requested to be changed from the general PERA to the <br />Police/Fire PER_A; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, staffhas contacted PERA and Mr. Kapler is eligible to switch from general <br />to Police/Fire PERA with the passing of a Council resolution acknowledging the change. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />l) <br /> <br />That Fire Chief/Director of Public Works Dean Kapler has requested to be changed from <br />the general PERA to Police/Fire PEP_A; and <br /> <br />2) That Mr. Kapler is eligible to make this change with the passing of a Council resolution. <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />That under the 2000 salary, this change will actually cost the City less money. (Example: <br />If left as is - 5.18% of Mr. Kapler's salary would be paid to PERA, along with 6.2% to <br />Social Security, totaling 11.38% or $7,089.28. If changed- 9.3% of Mr. Kapler's salary <br />would be paid to PERA and nothing to Social Security, totaling 9.3% or $5,793.53 <br />[$1,295.75 less]). Mr. Kapler's contribution to PERA will increase from 4.75% to 6.2%. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br /> , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council <br />this the 14t~' day of December 1999. <br /> <br /> <br />
