The new garage doors are wider and include automatic openers. They also
removed an interior loading dock and changed the location of the service door. All of the
improvements have increased the utilization of the building. The City of Ramsey's Capital
Improvement Program includes a project to improve the metal building at the Public Works
Facility. This project is to be funded over the next three years, with $17,000 being allocated for
1999. For 1999, Mr. Riemer proposed improvements in the following areas:

Replace the remaining two overhead garage doors with the wider doors and electric openers
Install electrical outlets throughout the building
· Install overhead lighting in the remaining portion of the building
· Replace existing fuel tank and pump (used for off-road machinery only)
· Pour concrete aprons for the two remaining doors

Mayor Gamec questioned if the loading ramp that was damaged has been repaired.

Public Works Supervisor Reimer replied that it has not been repaired due to the cost of the repair,
but noted that it should be completed next year.

Motion by Councilmember Connolly, seconded by Councilmember Hendriksen, to recommend
that City Council authorize staff to award bids to Sterling Electric, City Wide Garage Door, and
Determan-Brownie Inc. for improvements to the Public Works Facility in the amount of $17,000.

Finance Committee/September 14, 1999
