Case #6: Update on All-way Stop at C.R. #116 and Dysprosium Street

City Engineer Jankowski explained that the County Public Works Committee recommended a
motion to post four-way stop signs at the intersection of Dysprosium Street and C.R. #116
contingent upon the City of Ramsey removing the speed humps which are on Dysprosium Street.
The recommendation was ratified by the Anoka County Board on November 8, 1999, without
conditions. The four-way stop was installed on Wednesday, November l0th.

Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if the motion made during the County Public Works
Committee meeting was done by Commissioner Dennis Berg recommending approval with the
condition of the speed humps being removed.

City Administrator Norman replied that the motion was made by Commissioner Berg.

Councilmember Zimmerman noted that the County Public Works meetings are quite informal
and the motions can be unclear.

City Engineer Jankowski questioned the opinion of the Councilmembers in regards to the speed
humps along Dysprosium.

Councilmember Zimmerman stated why should the speed humps be removed only to speed up
traffic that will have to stop at the next intersection.

City Engineer Jankowski stated that he would like to have a meeting with the neighborhood in
regards to the speed humps to suggest some other alternatives.

Councilmember Hendriksen replied that he is not willing to spend $100,000 to remove the speed
humps and redo the street.

Consensus of the Committee was to leave the speed humps and see how things work with the
addition of the new stop signs.

COMMITTEE INPUT

NOlle.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Chairperson Zimmerman, to adjourn the
meeting.

Motion carried.
