Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Haas Steffen, Anderson,
Hendriksen and Zimmerman. Voting No: None.

MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT

1) Gas Line

Councilmember Haas Steffen stated that she heard that Northland Gas is proposing to lay
another gas pipe along the original 8" pipe we have in the City. She noted a public
hearing that was held in Andover relating to a gas pipeline and she suggested that maybe
we can get some maps and have a discussion at the work session scheduled for Monday.
She commented on some things that could be of concern to Ramsey - such as the
emergency valves would be shut off by someone 60 miles away. She thought it would be
a good idea if the City required special permits for gas lines.

Mayor Gamec stated that he received some information and maps from the gas company.

Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if the reason Andover had the public hearing on the
pipeline is because they have to issue a special permit for the pipeline to be laid. The
answer was yes. He agreed that we should investigate what Andover has to allow us to
better protect our residents.

Councilmember Anderson suggested also contacting the City of Mounds View to see
what they have for regulations on gas lines.

Mr. Jankowski reported that the proposal is to put in a 12" pipeline right alongside the
current 8" pipe.

2) Mayor's Prayer Breakfast

Mayor Gamec announced the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast is scheduled for 7:00 a.m. to
9:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, 1999, at Greenhaven Country Club in Anoka.

3) Team Building

City Administrator Norman reminded the Council and staff of the Team Building session
scheduled for Monday, March 22, beginning at 4:00 p.m., at Comfort Suites in Ramsey.

4) Work Session

Mr. Norman reminded Council of the work session scheduled for Monday, March 15,
1999, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

City Council/March 9, 1999
