Councilmember Zimmerman questioned if there is a conflict of interest since Mayor Gamec is a <br />member of the Land Use Committee. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that it is not a conflict of interest. <br /> <br />Ms. Henke questioned if an issue with Ramsey land was presented to the committee would it be <br />a conflict of interest to which Mayor Gamec explained that the Land Use Committee is only an <br />advisory board. <br /> <br />Ms. Henke noted that a member of the City Council had previously stated that Met Council is <br />pushing for cluster housing. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec noted that Councilmember Hendriksen had made that statement. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that City Council has constant pressure to have more units per <br />acre. He explained that the City's consultant brought forward a plan with more buildings per <br />acre and in the focus plan it was stated that the Met Council had a desire to have increased <br />buildings per acre. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec agreed with Councilmember Hendriksen's statement. <br /> <br />Ms. Henke stated that City Council and Ramsey citizens need a description of what influence the <br />Met Council has on the City. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman questioned what would happen if the City Council did not approve <br />the Comprehensive Plan after Met Council gave their input. <br /> <br />Attorney Goodrich responded that if City Council did not submit a Comprehensive Plan to the <br />Met Council, they (Met Council) could apply sanctions or goes to court and bring an order <br />forwarding a Comprehensive Plan to Ramsey. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that the Met Council has a lot of influence with MnDOT and could refuse <br />grants if they did not comply with the Met Council. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to have <br />the City Attorney review any conflict of interest with Mayor Gamec being a member of the <br />Metropolitan Council Land Use Committee. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Zimmerman and <br />Anderson. Voting No: None. Absent: None. <br /> <br />City Council/June 22, 1999 <br /> Page 3 of 20 <br /> <br /> <br />
