Councilmember Zimmerman questioned if there is a conflict of interest since Mayor Gamec is a member of the Land Use Committee. Mayor Gamec stated that it is not a conflict of interest. Ms. Henke questioned if an issue with Ramsey land was presented to the committee would it be a conflict of interest to which Mayor Gamec explained that the Land Use Committee is only an advisory board. Ms. Henke noted that a member of the City Council had previously stated that Met Council is pushing for cluster housing. Mayor Gamec noted that Councilmember Hendriksen had made that statement. Councilmember Hendriksen stated that City Council has constant pressure to have more units per acre. He explained that the City's consultant brought forward a plan with more buildings per acre and in the focus plan it was stated that the Met Council had a desire to have increased buildings per acre. Mayor Gamec agreed with Councilmember Hendriksen's statement. Ms. Henke stated that City Council and Ramsey citizens need a description of what influence the Met Council has on the City. Councilmember Zimmerman questioned what would happen if the City Council did not approve the Comprehensive Plan after Met Council gave their input. Attorney Goodrich responded that if City Council did not submit a Comprehensive Plan to the Met Council, they (Met Council) could apply sanctions or goes to court and bring an order forwarding a Comprehensive Plan to Ramsey. Mayor Gamec stated that the Met Council has a lot of influence with MnDOT and could refuse grants if they did not comply with the Met Council. Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman to have the City Attorney review any conflict of interest with Mayor Gamec being a member of the Metropolitan Council Land Use Committee.
