PC CASE <br /> <br />CONSIDER AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE A <br />COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICER <br /> <br />By: Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />As part of the 2006 budget, the City Council authorized the creation of one new Patrol <br />Officer position. That position was filled internally by Community Service Officer, <br />Christopher Curtis. The City Council granted staff authorization to fill the Community <br />Service Officer position on May 23, 2006 and an internal recruitment process was <br />conducted. Staff interviewed four internal applicants. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff is recommending that. the Personnel Committee grant authorization to hire a <br />Community Service Officer at an hourly wage of $15.30. Upon City Council approval, <br />the selected candidate's official start date as a full-time probationary employee will be <br />June 21, 2006, however, the selected candidate may be asked to assist with community <br />activities prior to the official start date. Staff will bring forward the name oft_he selected <br />candidate for ratification at a future City Council meeting upon receipt of the satisfactory <br />pre-employment physical and drag test results. The City is in receipt of all ~ther <br />background check results and all results are satisfactory. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Motion recommending that staff be granted authorization to hire a <br />Community Service Officer at an hourly wage of $15.30 with a starting <br />date of June 21, 2006 with the understanding that the selected candidate <br />may be asked to assist with community activities prior to the official start <br />date. <br /> <br />Pending approval of Committee Action #I and receipt of satisfactory pre- <br />employment physical and drug test results, statT will bring forward the <br />name of the selected candidate at a future City Council meeting for <br />ratification. <br /> <br />PC: 06-13-06 <br /> <br />-325- <br /> <br /> <br />
