Mayor Gamec suggested maybe they could meet in Anoka. There is a big renovation
project going on in George Green Park.

A suggestion was made that possibly a room would be available for rent at the new senior
apartments.

Council asked Mr. Norman to find out numbers on the Capco Building.

Councilmember Hendriksen suggested that the Old Town Hall is not the answer either.
He feels there is an advantage to keeping staff together.

Councilmember Zimmerman mentioned that maybe portables would be the answer to get
public support for an expansion to City Hall.

Councilmember Connolly asked how Council feels about moving their meetings out of
the Chambers - possibly another location.

It was unanimous that moving Council would be okay.

#3: Administration Special Projects

Discussion ensued about contracting out for special projects. Mr. Norman listed the
special project such as the Old Town Hall, space needs, storm water utility system
implementation, human resources study, and getting the MnDTED survey completed.

Councilmember Cormolly inquired if there is anyone on staff who could handle some of
these projects in-house.

Councilmember Anderson expressed concern about contracting out not giving the City
continuity.

Councilmember Hendriksen felt that it is worthwhile to parachute in some help to get
some of these projects off the plate while we work on a long-term plan. We could
contract out on a trial basis.

MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT

1) Joint Meeting

Mr. Norman announced a joint meeting with the City of Andover scheduled for 7:00
p.m., September 30, 1999.

City Council Work Session/September 8, 1999
Page 6 of 7
