He stated that he was not elected by the Met <br />Council, but by the residents of Ramsey, and expressed that he will stand by the residents even <br />though it may not be in favor of the Met Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Connolly stated that she felt there is some problems with the document and <br />recommended that they discuss it further at a work session. She also stated that in her opinion a <br />single-family development does not mean all of the trees in the area will be removed. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that the Council has been giving staff confusing recommendations, and <br />suggested that the Council write down the wording they would feel appropriate for the Plan. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman responded to Councilmember Anderson's comment over the <br />number of units per acre being reduced. He explained that there are two identified areas where <br />townhomes could exist and the rural development has been increased to one unit per 2.5 acres. <br />The units per acre have increased.. <br /> <br />Councilmember Connolly suggested having work sessions with sister cities to receive input from <br />them in regards to the Plan. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that it is critical that the City achieve the 3.0 units per acre, <br />and requested a spreadsheet be put together to inform the Council of what the units per acre <br />would be. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that the Council needs to understand that the Comprehensive Plan is not the <br />Zoning Ordinance and requested the discussion be continued at a work session. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman noted that there was a proposed meting for September 30th with the <br />City of Andover, but was made aware of a conflict for that date. <br /> <br />Consensus was reached to allow Andover to change the meeting date if they so desire since they <br />initiated the meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that he keeps hearing from the Mayor that Andover was <br />forced to do something in regards to the clean up of the dump and would like to hear what the <br />situation was from Andover. He questioned what would happen if the Met Council forces the <br />City to do something against the wishes of their residents and hold the funds on the T.H. #47 <br />project. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied that there is a need to get the T.H. #47 project moving forward. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen replied that the commitment that was made to the residents had to <br />do with stoplights on T.H. #47 rather then expanding the road.
