Citizen Input <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if there was any other wording in section 3.2. <br /> <br />City Attorney Goodrich reviewed the wording in section 3.2. <br /> <br />Motion to by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Anderson, to close the <br />public hearing. <br /> <br />The public hearing closed at 7:29 p.m. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Hendriksen, Anderson, Connolly, <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular portion of the City Council meeting back to order at 7:29 p.m. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that the underlying action is the perception by the Charter <br />Commission that the City will go to the Ward system. Looking at Anoka County and other ward <br />systems it does not seem very economical, certain members get more than their fair share of <br />resources. He did not think the precinct liaison function should be removed and he is not willing <br />to vote out the precinct liaison function. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied that he had attended approximately eight liaison meetings and only one <br />citizen showed up. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated that it is true that there was not good attendance at the liaison <br />meetings in the past, but noted the Council did not make a good effort to notify residents of who <br />their representative was. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec noted that liaisons have not been appointed since 1994. <br /> <br />Councilmember Connolly stated with the growth of the City there are more active neighborhood <br />groups and suggested giving liaisons more of an effort. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson inquired if the Council needs the recommendation from the Charter <br />Commission. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied that it was voted to be removed back in 1993, so the Charter Commission <br />was under the assumption that it was removed. <br /> <br />City Council/October 12, 1999 <br /> Page 6 of 28 <br /> <br /> <br />
