Council Member Strommen entertained the idea of something fun for families and kids, <br />and perhaps partnering with other children's programs and organizations for the day of <br />the EXPO. <br />Acting Chairperson Max asked if there is an earth club in the high school. <br />Board Member Bentz suggested asking a 4-H club to participate. <br />Acting Chairperson Max stated there are always a few kids who choose to do community <br />service at the EXPO each year. <br />Board Member Bentz stated that having students or clubs come in could take some of the <br />burden off financing the Expo. <br />Environmental Specialist Bacon suggested adding a recycling component to the EXPO. <br />Acting Chairperson Max stated there are some things going on with the local power <br />company. He suggested talking about generation of power and energy saving appliances. <br />Council Member Strommen concurred that energy efficiency would be a good topic. <br />Acting Chairperson Max stated that these events could be done every Wednesday <br />following the EXPO or on the day of the EXPO. <br />Board Member Bentz suggested a session about Mercury from broken bulbs. <br />Environmental Specialist Bacon stated that Coordinator Anderson should review these <br />suggestions and add his input to the discussion. <br />Board Member Bentz suggested presentation subjects by City Staff on their initiatives for <br />the wetlands, recycling, farmland policies, and a general overview of the Comprehensive <br />Plan. <br />Environmental Specialist Bacon asked if sustainability will be part of the Comprehensive <br />Plan update. <br />Council Member Strommen asked if the EPB members were updated on the new Ramsey <br />3 program.
