He stated that their recommendations should include their color choices, fonts and font sizing,
and whether the signs should blend in or stand out.
Board Member Bentz suggested that they keep in mind the added expense for the signs and that
most would not actually see the signs.
Board Member Bentz asked if the signs would be reflective. Mr. Anderson stated that the signs
could be reflective if desired and reviewed.
Mr. Anderson noted that the ordinance did get pretty specific about what the signs should read,
adding that verbiage would be included to state either `no mowing allowed' or `vegetation
clearing limits'. He suggested that the Board discuss the verbiage included in the ordinance for
the next meeting.
Acting Chairperson McDilda suggested that they keep the 'no mowing' and 'no dumping'
verbiage. He asked the Board Members to bring their suggestions to the work session and be
prepared for a discussion with the Council.
Board Member Max asked what type of verbiage other Cities are using. Mr. Anderson stated
that the proposed verbiage is the same as what is being used in Eden Prairie.
Acting Chairperson McDilda stated that it would be appropriate to reference the ordinance
number associated with the signage and include the City Logo on the sign.
BOARD INPUT
Acting Chairperson McDilda clarified that the Board meetings would return to the first and third
Mondays starting in October.
Mr. Anderson confirmed stating that the first meeting in September has been cancelled because
the first Monday in September is Labor Day.
Board Member Bentz suggested including a review of the tree ordinance on their list of priorities
for discussion.
Acting Chairperson McDilda stated that the Board also should hold their Board elections. He
noted that there is also considerable discussion going on around the updates to the
Comprehensive Plan adding that there is also a need to review the wording around the
greenways. He stated that these items should be addressed at the Board meetings in September.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion by Board Member Olds and seconded by Board Member Max to adjourn the meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Environmental Policy Board / August 1, 2005
Page 4 of 5
