RESOLUTION -//06- RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR 2006-2007 PARTICIPATION IN THE SAFE AND SOBER COMMUNITIES PROGRAM WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department has in previous years participated in the Minnesota Safe a_nd Sober Project, receiving ~rant money for the education and enforcement of DWI, Speed, and Seatbelt laws. In order to do this, the City of Ramsey has entered into contractual a~reements with the State of Minnesota to receive grant money. WHEREAS, the Ramsey Pohce Department would like to participate in the 2007 Safe and Sober Campaign. A grant is being prepared by the Anoka County Sheriffs Dept of.which the Ramsey Police Department would like to partner with. If awarded the grant, all the police departments involved would receive sufficient funding to cover officer overtime expenses to participate in the required Safe and Sober wave sessions. WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota is requiring a resolution from Council authorizing the execution of an agreement with the Department of Public Safety for the 2007 participating in project SAFE AND SOBER COMMUNITIES to commence October 1, 2006 through September 30, 2007. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1. That the Ramsey Pol ice Department enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traff'lC Safety, for the project entitled SAFE & SOBER COMMUNITIES during the period from October 1, 2006 through September 30, 2007. 2. That the Ramsey Ch ief of Police is hereby authorized to execute such agreements and amendments as are necessary to implement the project on behalf of the Ramsey Police Department in cooperation with the Anoka County Sheriff's Department. The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: -142-
