Councilmember Peterson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #96-08-188 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY FOR <br />ABATEMENT OF GROUND CONTAMINATION AND BLIGHT PURPOSES <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City finds that it is in the best interest of its citizens to identify and abate <br />properties which are contaminated and in a blighted condition; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City has determined that the parcel legally described below has probable <br />ground contamination and it is in a blighted condition because of an accumulation of discarded <br />automobile and bus parts as well as other miscellaneous debris; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City finds that such abatement is a proper public purpose; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City has authority to acquire the real property for public purposes by <br />eminent domain pursuant to Minnesota Statute Chapter 117; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City has the right to acquire the real property prior to the filing of an <br />award by the Court appointed Commissioners, pursuant to Minnesota Statue §117.011 and <br />§ 117.042; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the property owner of the real property which needs to be acquired has <br />been identified by the City as follows: <br /> <br />PIN FEE OWNER <br /> <br />REAL PROPERTY DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />34-32-25-11~0017 <br /> <br />James G.
