6. On March 10, 1998, the City Council appointed a subcommittee to research feasible sites in the City for a senior housing project. 7. On June 9, 1998, the City Council identified the Subject Property as the preferred site for a senior housing project. 8. On June 23, 1998, the City Attorney was directed to initiate legal action to acquire the Subject Property for a senior housing project. 9. That on July 14, 1998, the City Council reallocated $11,289.00 in 1997 Community Development Block Grant towards land acquisition for a senior housing project. 10. That the Planning Commission conducted a public hearing pursuant to Section 9.03.03 of the City Code on August 4, 1998 and that said public hearing was properly advertised and that the minutes of said public hearing are hereby incorporated by reference. 11. That the Subject Property is approximately 3.9 acres in size and is currently occupied with three (3) vacant and blighted structures. 12. That the property is currently zoned B-1 Business and development of a 50 unit building would require a rezoning to Multiple Residential (15 units per acre). 13. That the adjacent property to the south is zoned Planned Unit Development and is occupied by single family homes with an average density of approximately 5 units per acre; the surrounding property to the north, east and west is zoned B-1 Business. 14. That the City has engaged a consultant to update the City's Comprehensive Plan and the current draft land use map targets the Subject Property for high density housing development (7 to 15 units per acre). The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Haas Steffen, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Mayor Thomas Gamec Councilmember Carolyn Beahen Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen Councilmember Sheila Beyer and the following voted against the same: None and the following abstained: None RESOLUTION #98-08-203 Page 2 of 3
