<br />b) Council Personnel Staffing - There are two' separate items on the <br />personnel staffing which will require Council action: <br /> <br />1) Hiring of Light Equipment Operator - This item was tabled <br />at the February 22, 1983 Council meeting until March 22, <br />1983 when all COuncilmernbers would be present. <br /> <br />The 1983 City Budget provides for the hiring'ofa light <br />,equipment operator. In fact, this new positron has been <br />a budgeted item for the past several years. The Council <br />has just put off the creating of this position for a <br />number of reasons. The Council Personnel Committee has .': <br />recommended to the Council that the City hire a public' _: ,::. <br />works employee who would fill the position of light equipment <br />operator. This person would work in the parks and street <br />departments. Please refer to Council Personnel Committee <br />minutes dated February 16, 1983 contained in enclosure <br />(B-5) of Council agenda dated February 22, 1983 and Council <br />Personnel Committee minutes dated March 8, 1983 contained <br />in enclosure (B-4) of this agenda. <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Council fill this position <br />as it is not possible to keep going on as we have in the <br />past by ignoring the personnel situation in public works. <br /> <br />Council Action: Your action will be to approve/disapprove <br />of the above request. The following proposed motion is <br />hereby submitted for your consideration: <br /> <br />Motion by and seconded by to <br />authorize the City of Ramsey to advertise for a light <br />equipment operator. It is directed that ads be placed <br />in the City's official newspaper, the Anoka Union, <br />and also in the Minneapolis Star and Tribune on,.the <br />following dates: <br />Further, that the Council Personnel Committee, along <br />with the City Administrator and public Works Super- <br />intendent set up interviews and report back to Council <br />with the top three candidates for the position for <br />Council review and action. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes <br />Voting no <br /> <br />2) Hiring of Accounting/Data Processing Clerk - This item was <br />t~bled at the February 22, 1983 Council meeting until <br />March 22, 1983 when all Councilmernbers would be present. <br /> <br />This new position was not contained in the 1983 budget <br />for a number of reasons mainly because I felt we could <br />adjust to the workload, etc. However, this has not been <br />the case and will not be in the future. Consequently, I <br />would like to discuss this at the special Council meeting <br />when we discuss the polic labor contract. <br /> <br />CASE #13: COMMUNITY SIGN: <br /> <br />I would like to discuss this at the meeting with councilmernbers. <br /> <br />, <br />/ <br />
