,

. "

March 3, 1983

TO: Mayor Gamec

FROM: City Administrator Schnelle

RE: Supplemental Study to Research Options for utilization of Landfill Gases

ENCL: 1) Study on Methane Gas done by Perennial Energy, Inc. dated February
25, 1983

I attended the meeting this morning that Mr. Tim Yantos conducted at the Anoka
County Court House in regards to the study contained in enclosure 1. Those in
I I attendance were as follows:

Mr.
Ms.
Mr.
Ms.
Mr.
Ms.
Mr.
Mr.

Tim Yantos, Assistant County Administrator
JoAnn Wright, Assistant County Administrator
Steve Klein, Staff Member of Anoka County Community Action
Natalie Haas, County Commissioner
Dick Blomquist, Mayor of the'City of Anoka
Colleen Brady, Assistant County Attorney
Dean Doysher, Planning Consultant to Anoka County CDBG
Pat McFarland, Director of ACCAP Agency

Program
(ACCAP)

Mr. Steve Klein reviewed Options #lthru #4. pointing out the advantages and
disadvantages of the options that would be available in developing energy at
the Anoka Landfill. It appears that Option #4 is the most flexible one for
us to be looking at. Mayor Blomquist also felt that Option #4 was the most
viable of the options available for the developing of energy for the industries
in:the industrial park.

Basically, Options #1 and #2 zero in on one industry which would be Waltek, Inc;
and they don't offer the flexibility #4 does in looking at the whole broad
picture. There is a meeting scheduled on March 11, 1983 at 3:00 p.m. at the
County Administrator's conference room with the same group of individuals.

I would also like to speak to you regarding the planning and Zoning 'Commission
meeting-of-tla ch 1, 1983 regarding the landfill report.
