The City Council finds that the use of renewable <br /> <br />resources including wood is increasing. The Council recognizes that to <br /> <br />protect public health and safety, wood piles must be erected, located, and <br /> <br />maintained in a safe and orderly fashion. <br /> <br />2) Scope. This ordinance applies to the storage of wood on residential <br /> <br />properties wi thin the Ci ty of (Fill in name of community) <br /> <br />except for the exemptions noted below. The ordinance shall apply to any <br /> <br />wood or wood product usually used or intended to be used as firewood in <br /> <br />L~e residence or any accessory structure. <br /> <br />No~e: This section specifies firewood and would not apply to lumber or <br /> <br />other wood construction materials that may be stored on residential <br /> <br />property. The language could be broadened to include these other wood <br /> <br /> <br />products if desired. If this is done, thougb, an exe~ption provision <br /> <br />concerning the temporary storage of wood construction materials at <br /> <br />construction could be added. See note under section 4 on exa~ptions. <br /> <br />3) Conditions of Storage. Firewood shall be stored in the following <br /> <br />fashion: <br /> <br />a) in neat and secure stacks. <br /> <br />b) the height of a wood pile over three feet high shall be no more <br /> <br />twice its width. The maximum height allowed is 6 feet. <br /> <br />c) in a manner and location to minimize possible problems of rat <br /> <br />or other pest infestation. <br /> <br />d) no wood shall be stored within the required minimum area of <br /> <br />setback frem a street right-of-way or property line. <br /> <br />e) no wood shall be 5:'-:':-:::'= :.:-. a front Y2.~': <br /> <br />y~!:'c that is com:r.only <br /> <br />considered the fro~: <br />
