Special City Council meeting minutes dated July 29, 1985. <br />' COMT7TEE RnSTNESS <br />Case #1: Subcommittee Repgrtss <br />' a) L&gislative - <br />Mr. DeLuca stated that he did meet with City Administrator Schnelle to develop <br />a rough draft for the market study analysis proposal. <br />Notion by Mr. DeLuca and seconded by Ms. Sitz to add Discussion Of Market Study <br />' Analysis Proposal Draft as Case #5 to this agenda. <br />Notion carried. Voting Yes: Chairman LeLeux, Qa:mittee Members Sitz, DeLuca, <br />' Fountain, Pearson, McCulley and Wentura. Voting No: None. <br />Mr. DeLuca stated that there is a lot of work to be done to develop and promote <br />legislation for presentation to next year's legislative session regarding <br />hosting communities. <br />Chairman LeLeux stated that the tenure of this Committee is half over; certain <br />' issues have sidetracked the Committee's efforts away from it's primary concern - <br />- the landfill issue; this Committee should resume concentrating on the <br />landfill. <br />Ms. Sitz agreed that the Committee has been sidetracked onto the abatement <br />issue. Ms. Sitz stated that abatement is a very important issue and if this <br />Committee does not follow up on it, City Council should be made aware of it's <br />importance and encouraged to closely monitor it and the EIS procedure the <br />County is presently going through. <br />b) Landfill Operations - <br />Mr. Pearson stated that there have been no formal meetings of this <br />subcommittee. Mr. Pearson stated he has viewed the landfill site and the <br />citizens should be made aware that the landfill management is doing a good job. <br />Mr. Pearson stated that Waste Management of Minnesota is cleaning up the <br />people's mess and being treated as the scape goats. Mr. Pearson stated that he <br />thinks Waste Management of Minnesota needs a free hand to finish off the site <br />the way it needs to be finished off. <br />Mr. Miller stated that Waste Management of Minnesota is still pursuing a <br />grading permit and will be going before the Anoka County Environmental Health <br />Hoard on Thursday, August 8 at 9:30 a.m.; the request for cover material has <br />been reduced to 200 yards. <br />August 5, 1985 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />
