Mr. Schnelle stated that <br />he will try and have more information available by the August 13 Oouncil <br />meeting. <br />The Personnel Oommittee noted Notice Of Impasse and Reguest For Final Positions <br />from State Bureau Of Mediation Services regarding Law Enforcement Labor <br />Services and City of Ramsey received at the City on August 1. <br />Oouncilmember Reiman suggested that some of the things already being done or <br />things that should be done by the Police Department could be considered trade- <br />off items if they were documented rather than referred to as past practice. <br />Mr. Schnelle stated that Mr. Auspos demands more of his department, i.e. Red <br />Cross and crime solving training, than what most other departments do. <br />Oouncilmenber Reiman stated that things like coffee and lunch breaks should be <br />spelled out; if a Ramsey officer is on duty, he should be visible in Ramsey <br />during that time. Oouncilmember Reimam stated he is willing to negotiate <br />where coffee and lunch breaks can be taken after 10:00 p.m. in view of the fact <br />that Ramsey has nothing available after that hour. <br />Mr. Schnelle replied that he doesn't think a wall should be built around the <br />officers because criminals don't build a wall around themselves. Mr. Sdfi)elle <br />stated that he doesn't think Council or himself has the right to hastily file a <br />grievance against a Ramsey officer who happened to be attending a luncheon <br />meeting in Anoka. <br />Oouncilmember Reiman stated that a written policy would protect both parties <br />and eliminate the gray area. <br />Mr. Schelle stated that language can be written into the contract to that <br />effect. <br />ODMMPrmF:F INPUT <br />The Ommittee directed Mr. Schnelle to schedule . a Personnel Oommittee meeting <br />for 7:00 p.m. on August 13. <br />BI7.►T <br />Motion by Oouncilmmber Reiman and seconded by Oouncilmember Sorteberg to <br />adjourn the Personnel Meeting. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Oouncilmenber Reiman and Oouncilmember <br />Sorteberg.
