City of Ramsey 2
16163 NOWTHEN BOULEVARD N.W., RAMSEY, MINNESOTA 55303 * 1612) 427.1410
August 12, 1985
Mr. Roger E. Brubaker
Manager Airspace, Procedures
and Automation Branch
FAA Great Lakes Region
2300 East Devon Avenue
Des Plaines, IL 60018
RE: Aeronautical Study 85 -AGL- 901 -OE
Regarding FM108's Proposed Addition to Existing Tower
0*
Dear Mr. Brubaker:
The City of Ramsey has received notice of the above referenced proposal
to increase FM108's tower height by 522'. The City is opposed to this proposed
'
action since it will adversely affect operating minimums at the existing airport
facility.
The FAA should further be aware that an Airport Master Plan Study, jointly
'
funded by Mn /DOT, Division of Aeronautics and the City, is nearing completion.
A final public hearing on the study will be held on August 21, 1985 and after
the final public hearing, the City Council will make their decision on the
'
subject study. Among the findings and recommendations in the draft study
are that:
* The airport has a high proportion of training and proficiency
'
operations.
* The airport, if it is to remain operational, is recommended to
'
be converted to a publicly owned facility.
* Runway 16 -34 will be upgraded to a BUR, 60 x 3300', paved surface.
'
* Non - precision instrument approaches (Mn /DOT's 40:1 criteria)
will serve both Runways 16 and 34.
'
The present airport is recognized in both regional and state airport system
plans. A request and justification for entry into the NPIAS is pending, thus
'
enabling federal funding participation in the proposed airport improvement
plan.
0*
