<br />PtrtcUYlS to &se #s- <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />June 28, 1988 <br /> <br />TO: Mayor and City Council' <br /> <br />FROM: Anne Norris, Community Development Director C~ <br /> <br />RE; Pilot Curbside Recycling Program <br /> <br />At its meeting on May 31, the Council requested the following <br />information regarding the curbside recycling program. <br /> <br />1. The containers will cost $4.50 each plus freight costs. <br />A "Ramsey Recycles" label can be added to the containers <br />for an additional $250.00. Generally, the containers <br />are in one color and the City label is done in another <br />color. <br /> <br />The City will receive the containers directly from the <br />manufacturer. It is the City's responsibility to <br />distribute the containers or notify residents to come in <br />and pick them up. Waste Management may be interested in <br />helping the City distribute the containers. <br /> <br />2. The cost of the collection is $1.01 per household per <br />month, based on twice monthly pick-up and no more than <br />302 homes. <br /> <br />3. It is the City's responsibility to promote the recycling <br />program. However, Waste Management. has promotional <br />information which has been used in other communities; <br />this information will be provided to Ramsey. Tbe <br />information outlines Ramsey's program and also explains <br />how the materials sbould be packaged. <br /> <br />4. Waste Management will provide reports to the City as to <br />the tonnage and breakdown of types of materials collected. <br /> <br />5. According to Waste Management, it will take <br />approximately 30 days for the manufacturer to deliver <br />containers f or Ramsey's pr ogr am. Once the c onta iner 8 <br />are delivered, implementation of the program can begin. <br /> <br />As always. please let me know if you need additional information <br />on this. <br />
