It. ,,",las obvious that most people in
attendance at the meeting had already reached their own
decision be~ore the meeting started. "his includes me. I
felt some excellent questions were raised that needed
accurate answers. I am not sure all of the answers were
cle.::\r to eVE'~ryont?, but I believe the information is
available in the engineering report and in the government
agency information.

The only real question was whether or not the incinerator
part of this facility would impose environmental hazards. I
am as concerned as anyone about this problem. I live only
1/2 mile from the proposed facility. One particular
question concerned the environmental worksheets etc. After
the meeting, I learned that these are an integral part of
the permit process and would be done before any permit could
be given. I do not think this was made clear. It sounded
as though these papers had not been ordered and that they
might now be done because the public asked for it at the
meetinq.

These are some of my own concerns on this issue. I am very
concerned about our trash problem as a whole nation and as
an international concern. 1 would like to always have
somebody else take the responsibility for the waste 1
generate, but that is not possible. I dffi tired of having
people be like ostrich with their heads In the sand who
think that somehow the problem will be taken care of and
that we don"t have to be involved. I am not happy that I
live so close to the landfill. I do believe it has lessened
the value of our house, but I do not believe this facility
would do the same.

I want private industry to do the best job possible to help
solve the problems we have all created. I expect the
company to make a profit while they produce better products
for us. Many of my neighbors feel that they can't trust
anyone anymore, so they are afraid to believe what the

b8
