Voting No: None. <br />case #13.A: r=sed Amendment To State Statute Chapter 444- <br />Mr. Goodrich explained that the proposed amendment to Chapter 444 would <br />allow cities to establish taxing districts to pay for street improvements. <br />This process would take out of the city's realm the need to prove a <br />property benefits in order to assess it and simply puts the cost of the <br />improvements on the ad valorem taxes for properties within the taxing <br />district. This amendment would have precedence over that feature of <br />Pamsey's charter requiring the petition process for improvements. <br />Motion : %, Councilmember Cox and seconded by Councilmember Pearson to <br />indicate Ramsey's support of Senate Bill 18 -62 amending State Statute <br />Chapter 444 to allow for the establishment of taxing districts for street <br />improvements. <br />Further Discussion: Mr. Hartley stated that he favors Council support of <br />the amendment and noted that the amendment is a tool to be used by cities <br />in certain situations. <br />Notion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox, <br />DeLuca and Pearson. Voting No: None. <br />Case #13.8: Discussion Regardina Charitable Gambling Licenses: <br />Msotion by Councilmember Cox and seconded by CouncilmaTher Pearson directing <br />City Staff to draft an ordinance that would restrict the issuance of <br />charitable gambling licenses to Ramsey -based organizations that use the <br />proceeds to benefit the community. <br />Further Discussion: Councilmember DeLuca recommended that City Staff also <br />review Crystal's ordinance regarding charitable gambling licenses. <br />Motion carried. Voting No: None. <br />Case #14z Assessing Duties For 1989: <br />Mayor Reimann reported that City Assessor Wirz will be retiring at the end <br />of 1988. <br />City Council requested that City Staft obtain information regarding how <br />much it would cost the City to contract with Anoka County for assessing <br />duties. <br />nk OR AND COUNCIL INPUT <br />a.
