I

!I
(---,J
\',::':~-;>'

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
cI
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
T
I

edge of Ramsey using Metro funds. The interceptor is supposed to serve
a multiple of communities and what has happended is that you people here
pay for an interceptor, through your tax doll ars, to serve Anoka only and
Council has just made sure it was sized properly to also serve Ramsey,
which is as it should be. We in this community, are working to provide
as much as possible without affecting the residential persons. It is
important that this Council realize and take the position that you
represent the people of this community and see to it that that pipe comes
to the edge of the community so we don1t have to pay for it ourselves
some time down the line. Last of all, I atte~ed a City Christmas party
and I thought it was a flagrant and disrespectful display and if Council-
member Van Wager had a part in it, I wish she would apologize because
nobody elected you their porno queen, especially to follow up that display
with "Silent Night". Some of us deserve an apology.

Mrs. Meske - 6920 167th Avenue NW - As a resident, I would not be embarassed
to pay for receiving the Ramsey Resident. It is one of the greatest things
that has happened to this City. If the local businesses feel like they are
footing the bi 11, lam willing :toJpay.

Mayor Gamec clarified that the businesses are' not complaining about the
cost of advertising in the Resident, I just feel guilty charging them so
much and it is like a community donation and I sure thank them when they
. do pu rchase ad space.

Jim Haft - 5160 177th Avenue NW - It is difficult for me to attend Council
meetings because of my profession - I am a salesman. One thing that I
have seen in the last couple of nights is that the people in this community
are really interested in what is happening and that really means a lot.
Last night, at the Hazardous Waste Hearing, I saw people almost dictating
what is going to happen in our community. I own 10 acres in Ramsey and
could not afford sewer and water to my property. - Council has to understand
that the people in Ramsey are here because they want to be, if we wanted
city sewer and water we would have built closer to the metro area. Just
because someone years ago planned for sewer and water, we will end up
paying for their mistakes. There has to be a better way and people in
this community will work with Council to get there. An individual earlier
tonight mentioned just going with sewer. My opinion is if you put in
sewer, you might as well go with water too and pay once instead of twice.
I hope the people of this community stick together for the purpose of no
city sewer and water.

Bernard Bebe - 14047 Azurite - All I have heard tonight is from the residents.
I am not a resident. I don1t even get to vote for the Council, but I have
to follow Ramsey laws because I own a' business in this community. I am
100% against sewer-and water. I have my own septic system and wells. I
can't see sewer an~ water coming in to serve a developer, at his cost,
without going past an area that is already established. If sewer and water
comes into Gateway North Industrial Park and I am still in business there,
and with all the things small business owners have against them already,
I will not pay one nickel for sewer and water.

Bill Goodrich - In August of 1982 it was determined that it would be
necessary to adopt a sewer assessment policy -- that developers were going
to petition for sewer and a policy should be set up before anything happens.
An Ad Hoc Committee for Public Improvements was formed and they met from
August through December preparing the policy. The policy is now being

CjMarch 22, 1983

'"'

/
"
