JAMES ROBERTS <br />By: Anne Norri., Community Development Director <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Mr. James Roberts is requesting a conditional use permit to operate a repair <br />and sales (telephone and catalog) of firearms business from his home at 7441 - <br />164tb Lane NW. Mr. Roberts has stated that he would not stock firearms on his <br />premises; the only firearms that Mr. Roberts would have are those that have <br />been ordered and have come in and not been picked up or those that are in for <br />repair. Mr. Roberts has stated that he has adequate off-street parking <br />available. Mr. Roberts also stated that he has obtained a Federal firearms <br />license required for sale of firearms. <br /> <br />The Chief of Police has reviewed Mr. Roberts' application and stated that 8S <br />long as Mr. Roberts will not be stocking firearms in his homes the proposed use <br />should not create a problem. In addition, the applicant and Chief have <br />discussed the appropriate procedure for selling firearms only to those <br />individuals wbo have obtained a permit for firearms. <br /> <br />Staff received a letter dated April 24, 1986 from Todd and Judy Cheslock <br />opposing Mr. Roberts' request based on their concerns regarding increased <br />traffic in the area. <br /> <br />Enclosed are the following items for your information: <br /> <br />a) Application <br />b) Site location map <br />c) Public bearing notice <br />d) Properties notified <br />e) Letter dated April 29, 1986 from Todd and Judy Cheslock <br />f) Proposed findings of fact <br />g) Proposed conditional use permit agreement <br /> <br />Ob servations: <br /> <br />As tbe applicant will not be stocking firearms at his home, and sales will be <br />by mail or telephone and will not create a major increase in traffic to the <br />area, Staff recommends that the Commission recommend approval of Mr. Roberts' <br />request. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Commission Action: <br /> <br />Motion to: <br />Adopt Findings of Fact 00___ relating to a request by Mr. James Roberts <br />for a conditional use permit to operate a repair and sale of firearms <br />business from bis home. <br /> <br />-and- <br />
