What kind of rock <br />will be spread over the bi tllDious material? <br /> <br />Steve Mackey - 'lhere has been no mai tenance of streets in Countryside Estates <br />since the blacktowing; the cost savings to the Ci ty for not having to grade <br />those dirt roads anymore should be used for sealcoating. <br /> <br />Mayor Heiman p?inted out that other itens, like snowplowing, do constitute <br />maintenance . <br /> <br />Mrs. Bruce - Stated that there are less maintenance costs wi th blacktowed <br />roads . <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox replied that the money that is saved is used to keep property <br />taxes at a reduced level. <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka stated that the rock used in the sealcoating process is FA2 <br />modif ied. <br /> <br />Mr. Drossel - Stated there is no wear to peat rock because it is rounded; why <br />isn't sealooating prolX>sed with granite; granite would give 10 years surface <br />life to residential streets. <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka replied that peat rock has held up well on residential streets; <br />estimated granite would oost 30% rore than peat and probably give 30% mre <br />street surface life. <br /> <br />Ci tizen - Inquired if excess rock that does not absorb into the bi tllDinous <br />material will be cleaned up. <br /> <br />Mr. Raatikka stated that a majority of the excess rock will be swept up. <br /> <br />Mr. Bob Bruce - Inquired as to who will p:Iy for the major street repairs that <br />need to be done. <br /> <br />Bob Jacobsen - Sports Haven - Inquired if these are the first sealcoating <br />projects in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Mayor Heibnan replied these are rot the first sealooating projects and previous <br />ones were handled in the same manner. Mayor Bei man interpreted ci tizen <br />concern focusing on: 1) Definite repairs that need to be made prior to <br />sealooating; 2) Quality of initial road construction; 3) Past pranises made <br />which may or may rot have been misleading.
