<br />'j <br /> <br />PROCEEDINGS OF CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, January 26, <br />1988 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: Mayor Gary Reimann <br />Councilmember Al Pearson <br />Councilmember Steve DeLuca <br /> <br />Also Present: City Administrator David Hartley <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br />City Engineer Peter Raatikka <br />Community Development Director Anne Norris <br /> <br />Members Absent: Councilmember Al Sorteberg <br />Councilmember Arnie Cox <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann called the regular City Council meeting to order at 7:43 p.m. <br />and led in tbe Pledge of Allegiance to tbe Flag. <br /> <br />t <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />William Proft - 8964 Highway ~lO - Stated that be recognizes the city has <br />no autbority regarding snowmobile activity along Hwy. fflO but requesting <br />tbat tbe City do wbatever it can to encourage those tbat do have authority <br />to establish stricter laws. Mr. Proft stated tbat snowmobiles should be <br />restricted to established trails; he is tired of having to always reshovel <br />bis driveway to remove tbe snow deposited by snowmobile traffic. Noted <br />tbat bis neighbor is of the same opinion. <br /> <br />Ed Hamilton - Stated that he has lived on Rwy. #10 for 30 years and be <br />agrees witb Mr. Proft. <br /> <br />/J <br /> <br />Ms. Jan Reiter - 6522 153rd Lane - Stated that in reading the January <br />Ramsey Resident, it appears tbat Waste Management of Minnesota, Inc. is <br />trying to bribe for vertical expansion by offering tbe City development of <br />a ski bill at tbe site. Ms. Reiter noted tbat in the past, Waste <br />Management bas indicated tbe site could never be developed as a ski bill <br />because of tbe methane gas; she feels tbat the most tbe city would get is a <br />sledding hill. Ms. Reiter referred to another term of Waste Management's <br />proposal, which would be to development residential lots north of tbe <br />landfill, and stated tbose private wells would become contaminated and <br />create a need for city sewer and water. Tbe existing bomes in tbe area <br />would also then be forced into paying for city sewer and water service. <br />Ms. Reiter stated tbat tbe residents are tired of fighting Waste Management <br />City Council/January 26, 1988 <br /> <br />Page 3 of 13 <br /> <br />\\o"i <br />
