Mr. Phillips stated that there are a lot of people <br />in that area who e homes are their life investment and he knows from <br />personal experienc that those homes are going on the market for $20tOOO <br />less than their trle value because of the proximity of the landfill. Mr. <br />Phillips qp,. estione why Waste Management wants to deve,lOP homes north of <br />the landfill when hey were forced to purchase homes west and east of the <br />landfill; ~ere they forced to buy those homes because of contamination?; <br />who would puy the omes developed north of the landfill? Mr. Phillips <br />stated thaF Ramsey should refuse Waste Management's proposal. <br /> <br />Ralph Smitl1ers - 6 60 153rd Lane - Stated that today, at the company he <br />works fort a lette from Waste Management was read to the employees which <br />stated th~t unle~s they obtained approval for vertical expansion by <br />February 15 t they ~ould cease hauling waste from Federal Cartr idge. Mr. <br />Smithers stated th t before Waste Management leaves the areat they should <br />be require~ to pay for the sewer and water that will be necessary in that <br />area. <br /> <br />Todd Johantgen - 6 01 155th Avenue N.W. - Stated he just moved to Ramsey in <br />November o~ 1987t ut before he didt he called city hall and they indicated <br />that the site waS lmost at it's capacity and there were plans to develop a <br />ski bill. Mr. Joh ntgen stated that those comments played an important <br />part in his decisi n to purchase his home on 155th. Mr. Johantgen inquired <br />as to the ~ffect 0 methane gases on private wells in the area and stated <br />that it is time tlO take the families' and children of Ramsey into <br />consideration. "I <br /> <br />Cary Cyr -,6511 l5~th Avenue N.W. - Stated that runoff from the landfill <br />south of his home ~aturates his septic area.
