5 Minutes CASE f 17 :

STATUS CF FAILED SFlYER AT
'!BE RAMSEY MUNICIPAL CENl'ER
By: Dave Hartley, City Administrator

Background:

During the first week of June the septic drainfield at the Ramsey Municipal
Center failed. The result was that the septic system would no longer accept
the building's waste. After making this determination, Buliding Official Elvin
Erickson req:uested that Hakanson Anderson Associates, Inc. prepare plans and
s~cifications for a newly designed drainfield. Those plans and sI;ecifications
have been prep3.red and re:::Iuest for proposals are now being extended to local
contractors. By the date of the City Council's meeting of June 14, 1988 we
expect to have proposals for the City Council's consideration.

Meanwhile, the City's sewer system is being pumped at an expense of
approximately $300 per week. We are considering this an emergency situation
and foregoing minor formalities that the City Council might otherwise expect
relating to other types of improvements.

ReCOlrlIS1dation:

Council Action:

Motion to:
Accept proposals and award a contract to ____________________ to construct
a sanitary sewer drainfield for the RarnseyMunicipal Center at an expense

of $____________.

Review Checklist:

Administrator -A-
Attorney
Engineer -A-
Commtmi ty Developnent Director

Chief of Police
Finance Officer
Public Works Superintendent
Building Official

l

84
