The cost difference between the <br />reconstruction and the alternative selected by the City as a condition of the turnback would be <br />returned to the City is in either the form of cash or reduced contributions on other joint projects. <br />Motion to recommend that City Council direct staff to negotiate. with Anoka County for the <br />turnback of CR 63 with the intermediate level of upgrade as a condition for acceptance. <br />Action: <br />Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee. <br />Case #3 Update on the Feasibility of Installing Sidewalk Improvements on Waco <br />Street <br />Background: <br />At the September 2005 Public Works Committee meeting discussion of providing safe <br />accommodations for non vehicular traffic along Waco Street in the Rivers Bend subdivision <br />resulted in a recommendation that staff pursue the development of a sidewalk along Waco Street <br />from Sunwood Drive to Rivers Bend Park and a trail connection between Highway 47 and Waco <br />Street. <br />A concrete sidewalk would be placed along the west side of Waco Street between Sunwood <br />Drive and its intersection at 142 Lane and then continuing along the east side of Waco Street <br />from that point to the park entrance. A boardwalk/trail linkage would be made between the <br />existing TH 47 trail and Waco Street through the wetland (Outlot B) and the City owned <br />property (5200 on the city map). <br />Staff is requesting direction as to implementation and funding for the improvements. Options <br />would be to fund the costs through the Park and Trail Fund or to assess a portion of the costs. <br />Motion to forward the discussion of the feasibility of installing sidewalk improvements on Waco <br />Street to a work session for discussion by the full Council. <br />Action: <br />Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee. <br />Reviewed by: <br />Public Works Director/Principal City Engineer <br />City Engineer <br />CC: 08/08/06 <br />-371- <br />
