<br />" .. <br /> <br />A bill for an act <br /> <br /> <br />relating to city home rule charters; modifying provisions for <br />amendments and elections; clarifying relationship to comprehensive <br />municipal plans: amending Minnesota Statutes 1996, sections 410.10, <br />subdivisions 1 and 2; 410.12, subdivision 1; and 473.652, subdivision <br />9. <br /> <br />., <br /> <br />BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: <br /> <br />Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 410.10, subdivision 1, is <br /> <br />amended to read: <br /> <br />Subdivision 1. [TIMING; PROCEDURE; RECALL] Upon delivery of such <br /> <br />draft, the council or other goverr'ling body of the city shan cause the proposed <br /> <br />chaner to be submitted at the next general election or soecial election thereafter <br /> <br />occurring in the city within six months one year after the delivery of such draft, <br /> <br />and if there is no general city election occurring in the city within six months one <br /> <br />year after the delivery of such draft, then the councilor other governing body of <br />I <br /> <br />the city shall cause the proposed charter to be submitted at a special election to <br /> <br />be held within 90 days one year after the delivery of such draft. The councilor <br /> <br /> <br />other goveming body may call a special eJection for that purpose only at any time. <br /> <br />lf1he election is held at the same time with the general election, voting places and <br />election officers shall be the same for both elections. At any time before the <br /> <br />council has fixed the date of the election upon the proposed charter, the charter <br /> <br />commission may recall it for further action; and the council may authorize recall <br />
