Increasing from just a small few meeting <br />spaces to numerousr there is opportunity to reflect on Ramsey~ past prescmt <br />and future. <br /> <br />Representing the past the Municipal Center~ largest meeting spacer the training <br />roomr reflect the person whom we owe our namesake tOr Alexander Ramsc.~Y. <br />Representing the present are what could be considered among Ramsey~ <br />greatest amenitiesr its natural resources and water features. Representing the <br />future is the Sister City partnership with Loudi City, China. <br /> <br />Alexander RamsevTrainino Room- Trainina Room F160 <br />Alexander Ramsey served as Minnesota's first territorial governor, and second <br />governor of Minnesota as a state. After growing up in Pennsylvania, Ramsey <br />was appointed to governorship of Minnesota. Alexander Ramsey served <br />concurrently as Head of Indian Affairs for Minnesota while serving as the <br />territorial governor. Ramsey also spent time as Mayor of St. Paul and U.S. <br />Senator for Minnesota. Ramsey's house was donated to the Minnesota Historical <br />Society and still stands today as a mLiseum, complete with daily tours. No engineering skill can <br />persuade it to do otherwise."-Mark Twain. <br />Part of the largest river system in North America, the Mississippi River has its <br />headwaters right here in Minnesota. The 'Mighty Mississippi' is not only a lifeline <br />to fish and wildlife, but an economic giant as well, providing transportation of <br />materials and goods to the Gulf of Mexico. The Mississippi River makes up the <br />southern border of Ramsey, and its banks remain largely in their natural state in <br />our community. Public trails line part of the Mississippi River bank, providing a <br />great view of the river to local residents. <br /> <br />Trott Brook Room-First Floor 'Middler City Hall Conference Room F149 <br />Running through the heart of the city is another of Ramsey's great natural water <br />features. Running from west to east, Trott Brook is home to wetlands and <br />wildlife. The northernmost portion of Itasca TraiL.crosses Trott Brook via <br />boardwalks and paved trails. <br /> <br />Loudi Room-Second Floor Stacker Conference Room S204 <br />In 2004, the City of Ramsey made an important economic and cultural <br />partnership with the Lo~di City.
