<br />Fe CASE # '1 <br /> <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION AMENDING RECYCLING FEE FOR 3RD QUARTER 2006 <br />By: Diana Lund, Finance Officer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The 2006 Schedule of Rates, Fees and Charges was adopted by City Council on November 7, <br />2005 and amended June 13,2006. <br /> <br />Each year the City receives "SCORE" funds from Anoka County. These are grant funds which <br />are to be used for expenditures related to recycling only. For year ending 2006, after all <br />expenditures have been accounted for, staff is estimating that there will be approximately <br />$15,000 remaining in unclaimed grant funds. <br /> <br />So the City does not lose these funds, as they do not carry over from one year to the next, staff is <br />recommending to reduce the rate that is charged to the residents. This rate reduction would be <br />for one quarter only - that being third quarter 2006. This rate reduction is estimated at <br />approximately $10,000 that would then be reimbursed by the SCORE grant. <br /> <br />The current recycling rate is $7.31/quarter. Staff is proposing a third quarter rate of <br />$6.00/quarter. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends reducing the third quarter recycling rate from $7.31/quarter to $6.00/quarter. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br />Motion to recommend to City Council adoption of Resolution #06-09- XXX Amending the Third <br />Quarter Recycling Rate from $7.31 to $6.00. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Adoption of Resolution #06-09-XXX Resolution Amending Third Quarter Recycling Rates to <br />$6.00/quarter. <br /> <br />Fe: 09/11/06 <br />
