This 2 foot shoulder is recommended to be within the street or trail right of way, for <br />maintenance purposes. <br /> <br />The trail can be located as close as 2 feet from the back of curb; however a preferred distance <br />would be between 5 and 7 feet from the back of the curb, for safety and maintenance <br />purposes. <br /> <br />Considering all the above information, it will be necessary to have 9 feet of available right-of - <br />way behind the curb for a 2 foot boulevard and a 5 foot path, 14 feet for a 2 foot boulevard <br />and 1 o foot path, and 19 feet for a 5 foot boulevard and 10 foot path. <br /> <br />Easement acquisition costs and quantities are not included as part of this report. <br /> <br />v. PRIMARY ROUTE VS. ALTERNATE ROUTE <br /> <br />This project has been broken down into the primary route with several alternative routes. The <br />primary segment is shown in blue on the attached drawings, and the alternates are shown as <br />yellow. <br /> <br />If the primary route cannot be constructed, the alternate routes will be considered; however, <br />most of the alternates are infended to be additional trail locations, to interconnect with other <br />existing and proposed trails. <br /> <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />23 <br />
