VL PROPOSED TRAIL SEGMENTS

A. SEGMENT 1 - WEST

\~
~
.0 1500
I I

24

~ .
,/' -------..

Segment 1 is approximately four miles in length. This segment begins at the Anoka
County/Sherburne County line and ends at the west end of the Mississippi West
Regional Park. Refer to Appendix Sheets 1, 2 and 3 of 8.

1. The first part of segment 1 is approximately 6,050 lineal feet long, starting at
the west Anoka County line and ending at the intersection of Highway 10 and
Bowers Drive NW. This would include a 10 foot bituminous trail to be south of
and adjacent to the Highway 1 0 right of way. . This alignment corresponds to
the City of Elk River's proposed trail corridor.

The proposed trail location includes areas of trees, a number of private fences,
utility pede.stals, billboards and miscellaneous items associated with the use of
property as a private yard. The west 1,500 feet of this part is currently
agricultural use. The State of Minnesota owns approximately 1,000 feet, which
includes the rest area south of Highway 10. The remaining adjacent properties
are single family homes.

The trail would be located adiacent to the Highway 10 right of way with the
assumption that Mn/DOT would cooperate by allowing temporary construction
easement, where necessary, along the Highway 10 corridor.

2. The second part of segment 1 is approximately 7,750 lineal feet long.: This
starts at the intersection of Bowers Drive NE and Highway 1'.0, following the west
side of Bowers Drive NE for the first 200 feet, the.n crossing Bowers Drive NE
and proceeding southeasterly across private property. This trail is shown to run
parallel to the rear property lines of homes on the north side of Bowers Drive
NE, ,^:ith a minimum separation of 1 00 feet to the rear property lines.
Page 6
