Subject to the provisions of an applicable collective bargaining agreement, every original and <br />promotional appointment and every promotional appointment, is subject to a probationary period <br />of one (1)six (6) montha year., except for patrol officers, paid on call firefighters, and Department <br />Heads who have a one year probationary period. During thise probationary period,. a probationary <br />employee may be terminated at the sole discretion of the CityCity.— If terminated during the <br />probationary period, the employee shall be notified in writing of the termination and shall have no <br />right to appeal the termination. <br />Employees may use sick and vacation leave during their probationary period at the discretion of <br />the Department Head. <br />At the sole discretion of the GityCity Administrator, an employee's probationary period may be <br />extended for an additional 90 calendar days.— Completion of the probationary period or any <br />extended probationary period is not, and cannot be construed as, a promise of continued <br />employment or otherwise altering the at -will nature of employment. <br />New *1Penctuality3.11 Punctuality and Attendance <br />Formatted: Heading 2 <br />Every employee has an important role in maintaining a productive workplace. Therefore, it is <br />essential that all employees report to work every day as scheduled. It is unacceptable to be late for <br />work. For example, if an employee's start time is 8:00 a.m., that employee should be at their work <br />location and ready to work at 8:00 a.m. Unsatisfactory attendance, including tardiness Fe -paging <br />late to work and leaving work early, may result in disciplinary action up to and including <br />termination. <br />If an employee must be absent or late for any reason, other than approved time off, the employee <br />must notify their immediate supervisor at least thirty (30) minutes prior to the start of their shift. <br />thiG poGGible or :Fro So ahl An employee who is unable to make contact with his,4ertheir <br />supervisor must notify another superior within their department or Human Resources, within thin <br />one -hour, unless the employee is incapable of doing so due to extreme circumstances.. <br />3.1 Supplemental Employment <br />No city of Ramsey patrol officer shall work as a police officer or keeper of the peace directly for <br />any establishment in the City or at any special private functions within the City. Officers needed at <br />special functions shall work as city of Ramsey employees and shall be paid directly by the City. <br />The City, in return, will bill the person or entity requesting the officers' presence at the function <br />from which payment the City will reimburse itself for the officers' services. <br />The potential for conflicts of interest is lessened when individuals employed by the eityCity-ef <br />Ramsey regard the ei yCity as their primary employment responsibility.— All outside employment <br />is to be reported to the employee's immediate supervisor. If a potential conflict exists based on this <br />policy or -any other considerations the supervisor will consult with the ei yCity Aadministrator. <br />Any ei yCity employee accepting outside employment that the <br />by t City Aadministrator determines to be in conflict with the employee's sityCity job will be <br />101Page <br />
