The following items are never appropriate for the workplace. <br />• Unkept personal hygiene and an appearance that is not neat and tidy, <br />• Extreme hair colors and shoes such as, but not limited to violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, <br />orange and red. Discussion needed regarding extreme hair color. <br />• Tattoos that are deemed to be offensive, including, c. Examples of offensive tattoos <br />include, but are not limited to, those that depicting racial, sexual, discriminatory, or gang - <br />related images or obscene language, or those that undermine City's values. Offensive <br />tattoos deemed offensive must be covered while working, <br />• Tattoos on the head, face, neck, and hands are prohibited, excluding a tattooed ring.- <br />• Piercings that are loose or dangle, except for earrings or small, snug -fitting nose piercings <br />or studs. other than earrings or small snug fitting nose piercings or small nose studs <br />• Piercings that interfere with speaking clearly, <br />• Facial piercings (e.g., sSeptum, eEye-lid, eEye-brow, cheek, lips, etc.), <br />• Slogans or advertising may not exceeding 2 inches, other thanexcept for City logos, <br />• T-shirts, halter tops, tank tops, tube tops, muscle shirts, and shirts or dresses with spaghetti <br />straps, <br />• Garments revealing the midriff or off -the -shoulder, <br />• Athletic wear (e.g., workout clothes, sweatpants, sweat suits, leggings, and yoga pants <br />{unless the upper garment drapes over and down to the mid -thigh-), <br />o Team jerseys or sweatshirts may be wom during special sporting events on Fridays. <br />Athletic wear such as team jerseys or sweatshirts may be worn during special sporting <br />events on a Friday <br />• Shorts and mini -skirts. <br />• Dirty, ripped, wrinkled, or stained clothing. <br />• Transparent or overly tight garments. <br />• Clothing that is overly revealing or outlandish, so as to causecausing distraction, <br />• Clothing with offensive or derogatory images or wording. Any clothing with images or <br />wording that are offensive or derogatory. <br />• Flip flops, thongs, bare -foot sandals- and bare_ bottom shoes, <br />Exceptions to the abovethis policy will be made only on a case by case basis, with a doctor's note <br />stating the reason for the exception. <br />Employees Who Work Outdoors <br />Employees who work outside must follow the dress code established by their Department Head. <br />Clothing must always be neat, clean, and not overly worn, faded, or in disrepair.— Work shirts may <br />not be sleeveless, and employees may not go shirtless while on duty.— Solid_ color shorts and jeans <br />are acceptable when appropriate and with prior approval from the Department Head. <br />Uniformed Personnel <br />591Page <br />
