C. RAMSEY TERRACE LINEAR
An isolated park of 4.6 acres, located in the planned urban
district zone, this area should be expanded to the east.
This would gain control over a fairly large drainage pond,
and thus complete a passive park area with better access
from 142nd Avenue N.W., in addition to the present access
point on Junkite Street. Currently, of the 4.6 acres,
approximately two acres are usable and partially developed
with some playground equipment, picnic table, grill and
bench. This small area is sloped and hilly, making any
additional development nearly impossible.
The area to the north should be also considered for acqui-
sition because.it is marked by trails winding through a
heavily wooded hilly area and it abuts a large natural
pond. Gaining shoreland park would be a valuable asset to
the community. As the urban district is developed, this
shoreland trail area could be developed with access, park-
ing and additional facilities, like pedestrian, jogging, and
bicycle paths interspersed with picnic areas and unstruc-
tured play areas. With this additional land, Ramsey
Terrace would soon become one of the nicest parks in the
City and surrounding area.
Proposal
Consideration should be given to connecting this park to
the park located at Ramsey Elementary School for a nature
trails.
E. TITTERUD PARK NEIGHBORHOOD PLAYFIELD
This park contains 7.17 acres located between Ramsey Boule-
vard on the east and Jaspar Street N.W. on the west.
Because this site is located with good access, it is being
developed with a ballfield, two tennis courts and a picnic
area.
Proposal
A child's tot lot should be added to this site with play-
ground apparatus. Parking lots should be blacktopped and
backstops installed for the ballfields. A small shelter .
area should be constructed.
F. PELTZER NEIGHBORHOOD PLAY AREAS
This 11.9 acre site probably has the most potential at
present for becoming the nicest passive area in the City.
The park is partially developed -- with only some play-
ground equipment, picnic tables, grills and benches.
81
