Proposal
When more intense development occurs this park should be further
developed as a canoe rest stop. The DNR has shown interest in
helping the City develop this site. Buffering from surrounding
residential area is an important future issue.
Caroline Acres SPECIAL USE
Caroline Acres is a 2.4 acre park that is over 50% pond or marsh.
One high piece of ground is accessible by a small portion of the cul
de sac on 178th Lane N.W., which is the only access road to the park.
There are two additional areas of high ground, which are inacccessible
because of the marsh.
Since this is a small piece of land that adjoins a larger undesignated
swamp area, and because improvements are not feasible, it is recommended
. that this site be maintained as is.
Deerwood SPECIAL USE
Deerwood is a 10.9 acre area of standing wetland and dense brush.
There are two high spots...(1) adjoining 177th Avenue as an access
point to the south, and (2) another inaccessible point located on
the west central edge. Since no improvements are feasible, the site
should be left as is.
Beaudry SPECIAL USE
A 5.5 acre park that is strictly a surface drainage marsh. The only
access is by 152nd Avenue, on the south side. Because of its location
and its function, no improvements are feasible -- and so it should
remain as a wetland and natural area in its present state.
Greenland Hills 1 SPECIAL USE
A 15.6 acre park site that has no improvements, relatively poor
access along Yolite Street, and it is 90% marshland. This park should
be left in its present state, as no improvements are feasible.
Greenland Hills 2 SPECIAL USE
This is a 8.6 acre park like that of Greenland Hills 1. Access is
relatively poor, with only a small portion of the park bordering
Armstrong Boulevard on the west, and a 20' easement from a cul de
sac on the southeast corner of the park. Approximately 90% of the
site is low -lying and marshy; it therefore should be preserved
in its present state.
19
