RAMSEY SHOULD PROTECT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF <br />OCCUPANTS AND INSURE THE STABILITY OF RESIDENTIAL <br />NEIGHBORHOODS, BY ADOPTING A MUNICIPAL PROGRAM <br />WHICH INCLUDES TRUTH -IN- HOUSING INSPECTIONS. <br />a.. Goals <br />2 THE CITY OF RAMSEY SHOULD ADDRESS MODEST -COST <br />HOUSING NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY BY PROVIDING A <br />WIDE RANGE OF HOUSING TYPES (DUPLEXES, TOWNHOUSES, <br />AND APARTMENTS) WHERE URBAN SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE. <br />3. THE CITY OF RAMSEY SHOULD ADOPT LAND USE REGULATIONS <br />THAT PROMOTE THE DEVELOPMENT OF A VARIETY OF HOUSING <br />TYPES AND COSTS, AND THAT ALLOW FLEXIBILITY IN DESIGN <br />AND SITE PLANNING (PUD ORDINANCES). <br />C. LAND USE ELEMENT <br />1. Maintain and preserve most neighborhoods as basically <br />single- family areas except for selected areas within <br />the Urban Planning District. <br />2. Encourage a variety of housing types and sizes through <br />varying densities. <br />3. Allow multiple family units only in combination with <br />commercial areas in a PUD. <br />b. Policies 1. THE PREDOMINANT LAND USE SHALL BE RESIDENTIAL AREAS OF <br />VARYING DENSITIES, MIXED WITH COMMERCIAL AND MULTI- <br />FAMILY IN URBAN AREAS. <br />2. REQUIRE THAT PUBLIC SEWER BE AVAILABLE FOR RESIDENTIAL <br />DEVELOPMENT AT URBAN DENSITIES. <br />3. CONTINUE PREDOMINANCE OF LARGE -LOT RESIDENTIAL CHARACTER <br />OUTSIDE THE URBAN SERVICE AREA. <br />4. PROVIDE FOR A WIDE VARIETY OF RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT <br />THAT REPRESENTS A BALANCE OF HOUSING TYPES, LOT SIZES, <br />LIVING STYLES, ECONOMIC LEVELS, AND AGE GROUPS. <br />5. SOME OF THE VARIETY IN RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT SHOULD <br />BE INCORPORATED INTO EACH OF THE PROPOSED NEIGHBORHOODS. <br />THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE NEIGHBORHOODS WILL DETERMINE <br />THE EXTENT TO WHICH THE VARIETY CAN BE PROVIDED. <br />57 <br />
