If no limiting soil characteristics are revealed by the
preliminary soil boring, either a preliminary percolation test
shall be required in accordance with the procedures presented in
Section 170.038H(6) or the percolation rate at the depth of the
proposed system shall be estimated from other available
information.
c. The City Engineer shall determine preliminary treatment
area size based upon the measured or estimated percolation rate
and other criteria presented in Section 150.014.
d. The City Engineer shall require at least one (1)
additional soil boring, following procedures set forth in Section
170.038H(6), spaced equidistant across the proposed area noting
and recording soil texture. At least one (1) boring shall be
made at the bottom of the lowest proposed trench or bed
elevation. Each boring shall represent no more than five hundred
(500) square feet of lawn area on one soil type; a minimum of two
(2) borings shall be made on each soil type.
e. If no limiting characteristics are foil in the
additional soil borings, the City Engineer shall conduct at least
one (1) additional percolation test, following the procedures set
forth in Section 170.038H(6). Each test hold shall represent no
more than seven hundred fifty (750) square feet of lawn area on
one soil type; a minimum of two (2) percolation tests shall be
conducted on each soil type.
f. Percolation rates shall be averaged by soil type. If
all averges by soil type are within one -half (1/2) and sixty (60)
minutes per inch, installation of a properly designed standard
system may be allowed.
3. The evaluation shall begin with evaluation of the data
contained on the preliminary sketch plan described in paragraph 2
above, along with an evaluation of the following: Preliminary
plat, if applicable, flood plain and soil survey maps, soil
interpretation sheets, experience and any other relevant
information. If this evaluation, in the opinion of the plumbing
inspector, yields enough information and the site is suitable,
approval may be given for the installation of the standard system
of Section 150.014F. If the preliminary evaluation does not
produce sufficient information, a field evaluation shall be
required, including but not limited to slope and setback
measurement, soil borings and percolation tests.
4. If at any time during the course of the preliminary or field L
evaluation, limiting characteristics for a standard system are
discovered, the plumbing inspector shall determine if an
alternative site for a standard system is available on the
affected parcel of real property; and if such a site is t `
available, then the plumbing inspector shall require an
1
C
r
C
C
L
"I
1
L.
•
