1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />limited application of holding 'tanks on properties within <br />the 2000 MUSA boundary where use of properly sized holding <br />tanks is a temporary cost effective measure until sewer is <br />extended. <br />Residential Lots <br />The standard land area required for a primary on site system <br />and an alternate system is approximately 11,000 square feet <br />by County Ordinance. The City requires a minimum of 27,225 <br />square feet of Class I soils for a lot to be considered <br />developable. <br />Commercial <br />Commercial lots must have sufficient area for the building <br />as well as the primary and two replacement septic systems. <br />Critical and Scenic Rivers Areas <br />The City of Ramsey has established ordinances which regulate <br />building activities in the Shorelands and Mississippi River <br />Critical Area District as well as a Scenic River Ordinance. <br />The Shorelands and Critical Area District regulates building <br />along the Mississippi River and protected waters in the <br />City. The Scenic River Ordinance regulates building along <br />the Rum River. Anoka County has jurisdiction over septic <br />systems in the Shoreland Ordinance area which includes the <br />Rum River. <br />Flood Plains <br />Ramsey Code does not allow soil treatment areas to be placed <br />in flood plains delineated by local ordinance adopted in <br />compliance with the Statewide Standards and Criteria for <br />Management of Flood Plain Areas of Minnesota (Minn. Reg. NE <br />85 -93), or in areas for which regional flood information is <br />available from the Department of Natural Resources. <br />Septic System Replacement Policy <br />The policy of the City of Ramsey is to protect public health <br />and protect the environment by requiring prompt repair or <br />replacement of failed septic systems with properly designed <br />and installed septic systems. <br />Correction of failed septic systems is by; replacement of <br />individual sewage treatment systems (ISIS). Each <br />replacement ISTS on the affected property must conform with <br />current code standards. <br />
