The "grapevine" was relied upon by six percent.

The "Ramsey Resident" was especially important to residents of Precinct 3B. The grapevine was
key to men and residents of Precinct Two.

Next, residents were asked:

How satisfied are you with your current knowledge
about City government and its activities - very sat-
isfied, somewhat satisfied, not too satisfied, or not
at all satisfied?

A solid seventy-eight percent reported they were "very satisfied" or "somewhat satisfied" with
their current knowledge about City government and its activities:

VERY SATISFIED ................................. 18%
SOMEWHAT SATISFIED ., . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 60%
NOT TOO SATISFIED. . ..... . . .,. . . .... .. . . . . . . ., .. 14%
NOT AT ALL SATISFIED............................ 4%
DON'T KNOWIREFUSED .,. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5%

Eighteen percent expressed less satisfaction with their information levels.

Satisfaction levels were highest among over twenty year residents, over 45 year oIds, residents of
Precinct Two, and residents of Precinct 3A. They were lowest among 18-34 year olds.

Summary and
Conclusions

"Location" - ease of accessing important locations in the Metropolitan Area, such as shopping,
jobs, family, and so forth - was the key reason for moving to the City of Ramsey. "Housing"
ranked second, while "open space and rural ambience" ranked third. But, in terms of the things
people liked most about the community, "small town ambience, open space, and peacefulness"
dominated all other responses. As a result, it was no surprise that "growth" and "traffic" were
considered the most serious threats to the city's well-being.

Residents split on the changes that have taken place during the past few years, with as many
feeling it made Ramsey "less desirable" as thought it made the community "more desirable."
Even so, the quality of life rating awarded the city was among the top quartile across the
Metropolitan Area suburbs. Improving the quality of the community translated into several
priorities: slower residential growth, improvement of city services, and better traffic control.
For the overall comprehensive planning for the future, residents targeted four areas: a new
Mississippi River bridge crossing, protection of the rural character of the area, protection of

22
